Marathi Movie Fandry won the Sant Tukaram best international Marathi film award at the closing ceremony of the 12th (PIFF) Pune International Film Festival on Thursday. There was a prize of Rs 5 lakh instituted by the Maharashtra government. The film was also given audience award for best Marathi competition film. The film also won awards for best Marathi film director, actor, screenplay and cinematographer given by the Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Chitrapat Mahamandal.
Manjula said on receiving the award – “It is a great moment for the entire team. The efforts put by everyone has been realised,” . The closing ceremony, held at the City pride, Kothrud, was attended by film lovers, critics and students in large numbers. Jabbar Patel, chairman and director of PIFF, said that the festival witnessed participation of over 10,000 delegates. He said the festival would have participation of short films from next year.
